LiveArtDC Taking I <3 Hummels to Vegas: 2012 Capital Fringe Festival Hit to Be Performed at North American Hummel Club Convention
LiveArtDC is excited to announce that it will reprise its 2012 Fringe hit, I <3 Hummels, for hundreds of Hummel collectors at this year’s M.I. Hummel Club Convention. The group’s debut production will be the headline entertainment during the biannual gathering, to be held September 5-7, 2013 at Bally’s in Las Vegas.
“We’re honored by the invitation to perform in Las Vegas and thrilled to take this fun and heartwarming play to an audience of Hummel lovers,” said LiveArtDC Co-Founder Heather Whitpan. “I <3 Hummels took three years to collaboratively write and produce, so this announcement and our success at Fringe are tremendously rewarding.”
I <3 Hummels takes audiences through a snapshot in the life of socially awkward Raymond, the good-hearted collector who’s never known love. When he is set up on a blind date by the president of his local Hummel club, Raymond must seek help from an unexpected friend to find his way. Hummels got Raymond through everything in life, but will he give them up to find love?
During its Fringe run, The Washington Post called the play “cute, well made and a little unnerving.” The City Paper Fringe and Purge blog declared, “[w]ho knew Hummels could be this funny?” The show also received 5 star reviews from DC Theatre Scene and DC Metro Theatre Arts.
“When we heard glowing reviews about I <3 Hummels from collectors who attended a performance in D.C., we knew this would be perfect for our biannual Convention,” said Karen DeBow, director, M.I. Hummel Club.
The LiveArtDC Family traveling to Las Vegas for I <3 Hummels includes LiveArtDC Co-Founder and Director Kevin Finkelstein, and actors Rebecca A. Herron (Greta), James Radack (Raymond), Heather Whitpan (Heidi) and Wendy Wilmer (Mrs. Klein), as well as a number of supportive and Vegas-loving family and friends.
In advance of the Vegas appearance, LiveArtDC is planning a brief return run of I <3 Hummels in Washington, DC. Details are forthcoming.
